Byculla Cha Raja Marks 75 Years With Iconic Idol

Byculla Cha Raja is a famous Ganesha idol in Mumbai.

This year, the idol and its festival group are celebrating 75 years.

The Ganesha has kept the same seated design for many generations.

It wears real jewellery, including a special crown made with gold and silver.

The idol is placed in front of a large temple-style decoration.

The festival group began with many people who worked in Byculla’s fruit and vegetable market.

Much of that market later moved to Navi Mumbai.

Even so, the group has continued its connection with Byculla and its traders.

It has also introduced new decorations and technology over the years.
