Bihar Floods Affect Nearly 49 Lakh as Rivers Stay Dangerous
Floods have affected nearly 49 lakh people in Bihar.
The flooding is spread across 15 districts.
Many rivers are still higher than their danger levels.
One report said the water was receding in most rivers, while a later report said heavy rain had made some rivers swell further.
Rain in Bihar and in river catchment areas of Nepal contributed to the flooding.
Officials are running community kitchens and relief camps for affected people.
Boats and disaster-response teams are helping with rescue and transportation.
Tejashwi Yadav says Bihar should receive a national-disaster designation and more help from the central government.

The administration operated about 1,260 community kitchens, 13 relief camps and roughly 1,790 boats.
