Pakistan Punjab Denies PTI Rally Permission

Pakistan Punjab Denies PTI Rally Permission

The Punjab government in Pakistan has denied permission for Imran Khan's party, PTI, to hold a rally on August 5 to mark his three years in prison.

PTI plans to go to court to seek permission for the rally.

The party also expressed solidarity with the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), where recent violence has resulted in over 100 deaths.

Imran Khan was arrested on August 5, 2023, and has been in jail since then due to multiple convictions and pending cases.

The Punjab government has a principled stance against granting permission for any protests by PTI, citing past law violations by its workers.
