IIT Roorkee Warns Against Political Affinity

IIT Roorkee recently sent a message to its students and staff saying they should not get involved in political activities or protests without permission.

This message was shared widely on social media and caused some controversy.

Some people, like a member of parliament named Mahua Moitra, criticized the institute for trying to limit students' rights to free speech and protest.

The institute later said that this message is usually sent at the start of every academic session and should not be misunderstood.

Meanwhile, there was a protest in New Delhi where people were demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister over issues with competitive exams.

The police used tear gas and batons to control the crowd.
