Zoho Arattai to Implement End-to-End Encryption for Text Messages
Zoho's messaging app, Arattai, is getting a new security feature!
Soon, your text messages will be like a secret code that only you and the person you're talking to can read, thanks to end-to-end encryption.
This is similar to how voice and video calls already work.
The boss of Zoho, Sridhar, says this is important for privacy, especially since they keep all information in India.
He also mentioned that it's a bit tricky to add a way to save your chats (backups) with this new secret code, so that will take a little longer to arrive.
He's not worried that Arattai isn't one of the most popular apps right now.
He believes it's normal for apps to have ups and downs, and what matters most is building something useful that lasts a long time.
He compares it to building a strong house rather than a flimsy toy that's popular for only a moment.
Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu confirmed Arattai will soon have end-to-end encryption for text messages.
Full backup functionality for encrypted chats is expected to be available in two to four weeks.
Arattai currently offers end-to-end encryption for voice and video calls, but not yet for text messages.
Vembu stated that Arattai's drop from the top 100 app charts is a normal part of product evolution, not a cause for concern.
Zoho emphasizes its focus on long-term innovation and building homegrown technology in India, rather than chasing hype or selling user data.
