Konaseema Collector Urges Handloom Societies to Tap Private Markets

Konaseema Collector Urges Handloom Societies to Tap Private Markets

In a district of India called Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, many people weave cloth by hand for a living.

A government leader called a collector spoke to the weavers at a special celebration day.

He told them they should not always wait for the government to buy their cloth.

Instead, they should try selling their cloth to shops and other customers too.

Right now, about nine out of ten weaver groups depend on government orders.

The collector said weavers should make new designs and use modern tools to make better products.

He hopes this will help young people want to become weavers as well.

The government already helps many weavers with free electricity, yearly money, and pensions for older weavers.

Special experts will soon meet the weaver groups to teach them how to sell more cloth.

This will help weavers earn more money and keep the handloom craft going strong.
