Indian Art Gains Prominence at Art SG
Art SG is a big art fair happening in Singapore from January 22 to 25, 2024.
This year, there are more Indian artists and galleries participating than ever before.
They will show different kinds of art, like paintings and tapestries, by famous Indian artists.
Some galleries will focus on themes like migration, belief systems, and the use of natural dyes.
The fair is important because it helps Indian art reach more people around the world, especially in Singapore, which has become a key market for art in Asia.
The directors of these galleries say that Singapore is a great place to show Indian art because the audience there appreciates the deep meaning and different styles of Indian artists.
Art SG, held in Singapore from January 22-25, 2024, will feature a record 10 Indian galleries, showcasing a diverse range of Indian artists.
Galleries like Sakshi, Vadehra Art, Latitude 28, Gallerie Nvya, and Art Positive will present works by notable artists such as Surendran Nair, Manjunath Kamath, Shrimanti Saha, and others.
The event highlights themes like migration, belief systems, and the use of natural dyes in contemporary Indian art.
Singapore has emerged as a key hub for the Asian art market, with increased attention on Indian modern and contemporary art post-COVID.
Galleries aim to build long-term conversations and introduce new voices to collectors in the region, rather than focusing on short-term outcomes.
