Sreeshankar Murali Returns to Commonwealth Games Silver After Injury
Sreeshankar Murali is a long‑jump athlete from India.
In 2024 he broke his knee and had to stop jumping for almost two years.
He worked hard to heal and train again.
In July 2026, he jumped 8.09 meters in Glasgow and won a silver medal.
He had jumped 8.08 meters in the previous Commonwealth Games, so this is his second silver.
His comeback shows how hard work and determination can help someone recover from a serious injury.
Indian long jumper Sreeshankar Murali won silver at the 2026 Commonwealth Games with a jump of 8.09m.
He ruptured his left patellar tendon in April 2024, missing the Paris Olympics and spending about 650 days away from competition.
After rehabilitation, he achieved a personal best of 8.38m earlier in the season and returned to the world stage.
The gold medal was taken by Jamaica’s Tajay Gayle with 8.15m; Sreeshankar’s final attempt was 7.97m.
His silver makes him the first Indian long jumper to win two Commonwealth Games medals.
