BSE Clearing launches 3-day contracts to bolster short-term securities lending
BSE is a big stock market in India.
It has a special service where people can lend shares to others and borrow shares when they need them.
This is called securities lending and borrowing.
BSE Clearing Limited, the company that runs this service, has added a new short-term option.
The new option lets people lend or borrow shares for just three working days.
This is helpful for people who need shares for a very short time.
It can also help keep share prices similar across different trading places.
The new contracts work in two steps: shares are given on the first day and returned on the third day.
The system matches lenders and borrowers automatically.
This gives market participants more flexibility and choices.
BSE Clearing Limited launched three-working-day contracts in its Securities Lending & Borrowing (SLB) segment.
The shorter tenor aims to provide greater flexibility for short-term securities borrowings and delivery requirements.
The contracts feature a T+1 first leg and a T+3 reverse leg, excluding settlement holidays.
The contracts are initially available for securities in the F&O segment under the 'D' series prefix.
The SLB platform continues automated, screen-based order matching based on price-time priority, with no foreclosure at AGM/EGM and no Repay, Recall or Rollover facility.
