India Sends First Relief Tranche to Flood-Hit Nepal

India Sends First Relief Tranche to Flood-Hit Nepal

A sudden flood hit parts of Nepal near the Tibet border.

The water came through the Bhote Koshi River after a surge from the Tibetan side.

Reports say at least 95 people died, while about 384 to nearly 400 people were still missing.

At least 105 Indian tourists were among those reported missing.

India sent 10 tonnes of emergency supplies and medicines to help Nepal.

The supplies included blankets, temporary shelters, hygiene kits and solar lamps.

India plans to send more supplies and has a rescue team ready if needed.

Nepal’s roads, bridges and communication systems were damaged, making rescue work harder.

Officials are still investigating whether the flooding was linked to rainfall, an avalanche or an earthquake-triggered event.
