India Begins 2026 With Rainfall and Cold

Other areas like Delhi, Punjab, and Mumbai also saw light showers.
In Mumbai, some places had heavy rain for a short time.
Delhi experienced its coldest December day in six years, with temperatures dropping significantly.
The weather experts say this rain will help make the air cleaner and reduce pollution in the coming days.
However, the severe cold and poor air quality in northern regions have caused disruptions in travel and daily activities.
India began 2026 with widespread rainfall and snowfall due to an active western disturbance.
The western Himalayan region experienced rain and snowfall on January 1, 2026, extending into January 2.
