J&K High Court Quashes Man’s Public Safety Act Detention

Mushtaq Ahmad Shah was held in jail for 10 months under a law that allows detention without a trial.

Police reports claimed he might encourage young people toward anti-national or terrorist activities.

They also said he was socially accepted in his community and could be used by terrorist groups.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court reviewed the reasons given for holding him.

The judge said the reasons were too vague and did not provide enough details.

The court ruled that the detention order broke a constitutional safeguard.

It cancelled the order and said Shah should be released unless another case requires him to remain in custody.
