8th Pay Commission HRA Proposal Could Add ₹15,768 Monthly

8th Pay Commission HRA Proposal Could Add ₹15,768 Monthly

The 8th Pay Commission is studying how government employees' pay and allowances might change.

HRA is money that helps employees pay for housing.

Its amount depends on basic pay and the type of city where an employee works.

An employee organisation has suggested HRA rates of 40%, 35% and 30% for X-, Y- and Z-category cities.

One example assumes that basic pay will become 2.1 times higher and that X-city HRA will be 40%.

Under those assumptions, a Level 5 employee's HRA could increase by ₹15,768 per month.

This calculation is only an example, not a guaranteed payment.

The final amount will depend on the commission's report and the government's decision.
