Sensex falls 281 points as Nifty slips below 20-day SMA

Imagine a big scoreboard that tracks the prices of many companies' shares.

In India, two famous scoreboards are called the Sensex and the Nifty.

On this trading day, the Sensex went down by 281 points.

That means many share prices fell a little bit.

Some groups of companies did better than others.

Companies that build homes and buildings did well, going up by 1.5 per cent.

Companies that make computer software did poorly, losing 1.85 per cent.

The Nifty also closed below an important line called the 20-day average, which traders see as a warning sign.

Experts say the market could bounce back if it stays above 78,000.

But if it falls below 77,500, prices might drop even more.
