J&K Assembly Passes Bill Repealing Self-Reliant Cooperative Law

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly approved a new Bill about cooperative societies.

Cooperative societies are groups that work together to provide services or run activities for their members.

The Bill changes the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act, 1989.

It also repeals a separate law for self-reliant cooperatives from 1999.

The Bill gives those cooperatives a temporary process for moving under the main cooperative law.

Minister Javid Ahmad Dar explained why the changes were needed.

Assembly members discussed the Bill and offered suggestions.

The Assembly then approved it through a voice vote.
