Munak Canal Elevated Road Extended to Kashmere Gate with Tunnel
Imagine a long road over a canal in Delhi that was going to be about 20 kilometers long, helping cars avoid traffic jams.
Now, the government wants to make it even longer by adding a 4-kilometer tunnel.
This tunnel will go from a place called Inderlok all the way to Kashmere Gate.
This means the whole road will be about 24 kilometers long.
The idea is to make it easier and faster for people traveling from Haryana into Delhi.
This new tunnel will help create a road without any traffic lights from the border of Haryana all the way to the center of Delhi.
This should help cars get to places like the bus station in Kashmere Gate much faster, reduce pollution, and make travel smoother for many people in North Delhi.
The Munak Canal elevated road project is being extended by 4 km with a new tunnel from Inderlok to Kashmere Gate.
The total length of the corridor will increase from approximately 20 km to 24 km.
This extension aims to significantly reduce traffic congestion and travel time in North Delhi.
The project is expected to create a continuous, signal-free corridor from the Haryana border to Central Delhi.
Delhi's PWD is preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the extension and anticipates up to 40% reduction in travel time to Kashmere Gate.
