Rs 26.29-cr heritage funds stalled over land dispute
The Indian government gave Rs 96.90 crore to develop some old and important places in Hyderabad.
They gave most of the money, but Rs 26.29 crore is stuck because there is a fight over who owns the land.
The Telangana state government wants the rest of the money, but the central government says no until the court decides who owns the land.
The Centre sanctioned Rs 96.90 crore under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme for heritage site development in Hyderabad.
Rs 70.61 crore has been released and utilized by the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation.
The remaining Rs 26.29 crore is withheld due to an ongoing land ownership dispute.
The matter is sub judice, and no decision has been taken on releasing the balance amount.
The heritage sites involved are Qutb Shahi Heritage Park, Paigah Tombs, Hayat Bakshi Mosque, and Raymond’s Tomb.
