Foreign Nationals Who Supported Indian Independence

India's fight for independence wasn't just fought by Indians.

Several people from other countries also joined in and helped.

Annie Besant, from England, led the Indian National Congress.

Madeleine Slade, known as Mirabehn, followed Gandhi and was even jailed.

BG Horniman, an editor, bravely wrote about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Samuel Stokes, an American, was jailed for helping the independence movement.

Philip Spratt, a communist, organized workers.

These people, though not born in India, greatly contributed to the country's freedom.
