One More Dengue Death in Sindh, Official Tally Reaches 26
A young woman in Pakistan has sadly died from a severe form of dengue fever called dengue encephalitis.
This makes her the 26th person to officially die from dengue in the Sindh province since October.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne illness, and this type can cause serious brain problems like seizures.
Even though the weather is getting cooler, doctors say they are still seeing many dengue cases, especially in cities like Karachi and Hyderabad.
The total number of people who have gotten dengue this year is over 12,000.
A medical group is asking the government to do more, like declaring an emergency and cleaning up more effectively to stop mosquitoes from breeding.
They believe the government hasn't done enough to manage trash and fumigate, which has made the problem worse.
A 19-year-old girl died from dengue encephalitis at a hospital in Sindh, bringing the province's official dengue death toll to 26.
The victim resided in Korangi and reportedly experienced fits upon arrival at the hospital.
Doctors noted that dengue encephalitis is a rare and severe complication of dengue fever, causing symptoms like seizures and confusion.
Despite a drop in temperature, dengue cases are not decreasing significantly, with over 700 new infections reported in the past 24 hours across Sindh.
The Pakistan Medical Association has called for a health emergency in affected areas and criticized the government's handling of sanitation, waste management, and fumigation.
