Meta Cuts 600 AI Jobs, Rolls Out Metamate Performance Review Tool

Meta Cuts 600 AI Jobs, Rolls Out Metamate Performance Review Tool

Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, recently let go of about 600 people who worked on artificial intelligence.

They want to make their AI teams smaller and quicker, so they can focus more on building really advanced AI.

At the same time, Meta introduced a new computer helper called Metamate.

This helper is like a smart assistant that can read all the work an employee has done and help them write their yearly review.

Some workers find it helpful to get a quick start on their reviews, but others feel it doesn't capture everything important.

So, most employees use it to help them start writing, but they still do a lot of the work themselves.

Even with the job cuts, Meta is still spending a lot of money to develop new AI and wants to be a top player against other big companies.
