Delhi Cabinet Clears Bill for Single-Window Business Approvals
Delhi wants to make it easier for people to start and run businesses.
Its Cabinet approved a proposed law called the Delhi Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026.
The bill would create one online place to apply for many business permissions.
These permissions could include building, fire, pollution, water, sewerage and electricity approvals.
A government agency would coordinate the system.
Some low-risk businesses could receive approval immediately or use self-declarations.
Other applications would have to be handled within set time limits.
In some cases, an application could be treated as approved if officials do not decide in time.
The bill also aims to reduce repeated paperwork, duplicate registrations and routine inspections for new enterprises.
The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, approved the Delhi Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026, on Wednesday.
The proposed law would create a unified online system for business registrations, licences, permissions, no-objection certificates and other clearances.
The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation would act as the single nodal agency for the system.
Certain low-risk activities under Schedule III could receive immediate approvals or operate through self-declaration.
The bill proposes time-bound or deemed approvals, reduced paperwork and inspections, and broader permissions unless activities are on a negative list.
