Jorge Messi, father of football legend Lionel Messi, dies

Jorge Messi was the father of Lionel Messi, one of the greatest football players ever.

He passed away on August 8, 2026.

When Lionel was a small boy, he had a medical condition that needed special treatment.

Jorge worked in a steel factory and drove his son to football training every day.

He decided to move the whole family to Barcelona so Lionel could get the treatment he needed.

Jorge looked after his son's career, talked to clubs, and protected him from too much pressure.

He never wanted to be famous himself and stayed quiet and humble.

Lionel once said that his father was his hero.

Jorge's words remind us that even great parents sometimes feel unprepared, but love and support matter most.
