Iraqi Demand Boosts Orthodox Tea Prices at Kochi Auctions
Tea prices at the Kochi auctions changed this week!
Orthodox leaf tea, a type of tea, went up in price because buyers from Iraq wanted more of it.
This pushed the average price up a bit.
Whole leaf tea prices also went up.
But, some other types of tea, like CTC dust, saw prices go down.
This was because the tea wasn't as good due to the weather and there were cheaper teas available.
The auction saw a lot of buying from different places, but some types of tea were less popular.
Iraqi buyers increased demand for orthodox leaf tea at Kochi auctions.
Average price realization for orthodox leaf tea increased by ₹6 per kg.
Whole leaf prices increased, with strong participation from Middle East and CIS exporters.
CTC dust market saw a decline due to quality issues and cheaper alternatives.
Orthodox dust market also experienced a downturn.
