CML Survivor Day Celebrates Hope, Resilience at PGI
Imagine a disease, CML, that used to be very serious.
But thanks to new medicines, many people with CML are now living long and healthy lives!
PGI hospital held a special day to celebrate these survivors.
People shared their stories of strength and hope.
Doctors, families, and support groups all work together to help patients.
Today, people with CML can often live normal lives with regular treatment and checkups.
It is like managing other conditions like diabetes.
They are now able to live long, productive lives.
PGI's Department of Clinical Hematology and Medical Oncology treats over 500 CML patients monthly.
CML was once a fatal disease, but is now manageable with medication.
CML Survivor Day was organized at Zakir Hall.
Imatinib, introduced in 2001, was a breakthrough treatment for CML.
