Congress Turns to Grassroots to Pick DCC Chiefs in Karnataka
The Congress party in Karnataka is asking its local workers to help pick new leaders for each district.
They have set up meetings in every district and block so that ordinary party members can suggest names.
A special observer will listen to everyone and choose six candidates for each district.
The goal is to pick leaders who are good at organising people and who come from different social groups, including women.
The process should finish by August 12, and the new leaders will be announced soon after.
Congress is conducting grassroots consultations to select new District Congress Committee presidents across Karnataka.
The process, part of the 'Sanghatan Srijan Abhiyan', involves observers meeting workers at district and block levels.
Observers will shortlist six candidates per district, aiming for diverse representation across social groups and women.
The aim is to strengthen the party’s organisational base and improve coordination ahead of upcoming elections.
The consultation is expected to finish by August 12, with appointments announced by end of month or early September.
