FIFPRO opposes AIFF's controlled players' body
FIFPRO, which looks after professional football players worldwide, is worried about the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) plan to create a new players' body.
This new body, called the National Players’ Association (NPA), would be controlled by AIFF.
FIFPRO thinks this is not good because it would make players less independent and unable to protect their own interests.
There is already a players' association called the Football Players’ Association of India (FPAI), which FIFPRO recognizes.
The AIFF says it is following the Supreme Court's orders, but FIFPRO believes players should have their own independent union, like in other top football leagues around the world.
FIFPRO opposes AIFF's plan to create a players' body under its control.
The proposed National Players’ Association (NPA) would be controlled by AIFF.
FPAI, recognized by FIFPRO, already exists and represents Indian football players.
FIFPRO argues that an AIFF-controlled body would undermine player independence and rights.
AIFF claims it is following Supreme Court orders and that FPAI can continue to function independently.
