India-US Trade Deal Nears Completion as Final Details Remain

India and the United States are trying to finish a major trade agreement.

A senior U.S. official said more than 90 percent of the deal is complete.

The official said the remaining work involves final details.

India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said the agreement is essentially finished.

He said India still wants fair treatment compared with other countries selling goods in the United States.

The two countries announced an interim framework in February 2026.

Their teams are still working to complete the Bilateral Trade Agreement.

A business group said the deal should lower barriers and tariffs.

Supporters believe the agreement could make trade and broader relations between the countries stronger.
