Trump Declares Venezuela Airspace Closed
President Donald Trump announced that the airspace above and around Venezuela is now closed.
He made this announcement on a social media platform, telling airlines, pilots, drug dealers, and human traffickers to stay away.
This comes after the U.S. has been working to stop drug trafficking in the area.
The U.S. military has been doing this by sea and will soon start stopping drugs from coming by land.
They have already done some airstrikes on boats they think are carrying drugs.
Venezuela has a lot of drugs, and the U.S. wants to stop them.
The U.S. also has a big military presence near Venezuela, which includes an aircraft carrier that arrived recently.
This is all part of the U.S.'s efforts to stop drug smuggling and put pressure on Venezuela's leader, Nicolás Maduro.
U.S. President Donald Trump declared the airspace above and surrounding Venezuela closed in its entirety.
The announcement was made on November 29, 2023, via a Truth Social post.
The U.S. has been conducting anti-drug operations in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, including airstrikes on suspected drug trafficking boats.
At least 83 people have been killed in these airstrikes since September.
The U.S. military presence in the region includes an aircraft carrier strike group that arrived on November 11.
