Monsoon floods and landslides kill more than 100 in India

Every year in India, there is a season called the monsoon when it rains a lot.

This year, the heavy rain has caused floods and landslides, which are very dangerous.

More than 100 people in India have lost their lives because of these floods since July.

The state of Assam has been hit the hardest, with 87 people dying there.

Many people had to leave their homes because the water got too high.

Rescuers used boats and rafts to help people reach safe places.

In Kerala, more than 300 camps were set up to shelter over 10,000 people.

Heavy rain also caused problems in Jammu and Kashmir and in the nearby country of Sri Lanka.

Scientists think climate change is making the monsoon rains more unpredictable and severe.

The government says the bad weather may be connected to a natural pattern called El Nino.
