Indian Stocks Rise for Fifth Day on Election Results and Banking Strength
The Indian stock market had a good day on Friday, with its main indicators, the Sensex and Nifty, going up for the fifth day in a row.
This rise was helped by strong performances in banks and companies that make everyday consumer goods (FMCG).
Investors also felt more confident because a political group called the NDA won elections in a state called Bihar.
The banking sector, in particular, had a great day and reached a new record high for the week.
Even though many big companies did well, more smaller companies' stocks went down than up.
Some companies reached their highest prices in a year, but a few more hit their lowest prices in a year.
Indian stock market benchmarks Sensex and Nifty extended their winning streak to a fifth consecutive day.
The Nifty 50 closed at 25,910 (+0.12%), and the Sensex ended at 84,563 (+0.10%), with banking stocks outperforming.
Investor sentiment was boosted by the NDA's victory in the Bihar state election and positive Q2 FY26 results.
Banking stocks showed strong performance, with the Nifty Bank reaching a record weekly closing high.
Despite overall gains, more stocks declined than advanced, and more stocks hit 52-week lows than highs.
