Karnataka Grants Sport Status to Kambala
Kambala, a traditional buffalo race in Karnataka, has been given official sport status by the state government.
The High Court has also allowed it to be organized across the state from the next season.
This means Kambala can now be held in more places, not just the coastal areas where it is usually held.
The government will give money to support the events and provide special cards to the people who take part, so they can get benefits.
However, some people who care about animals are worried that holding the races in new places might be stressful for the buffaloes.
The organizers say they will follow all the rules to make sure the animals are safe.
