Textiles Ministry Considers Fresh PLI Applications
The Textiles Ministry in India is thinking about opening a new round of applications for a special program called PLI, which helps companies make more clothes and fabrics.
They have made it easier for companies to join by lowering the amount of money they need to invest.
So far, 96 companies have been chosen, and they plan to invest a lot of money to make more products.
The program started in 2021, but it took some time to get going because of the pandemic.
The government is focusing on making man-made and technical textiles because there is a big opportunity in these areas.
They expect all the chosen companies to be fully working by 2027.
Textiles Ministry may open a fresh round of PLI applications with relaxed investment criteria.
96 companies have been approved with a cumulative investment of ₹12,822.67 crore.
The scheme focuses on MMF apparel, MMF fabrics, and technical textiles.
Disbursed provisional incentive of ₹54 crore to two applicants for FY 2024-25.
Expected full operation of all registered units by 2027.
