Andhra Pradesh Revenue Deficit Breaches Budget Estimate
Imagine Andhra Pradesh had a budget for the whole year, but in just the first few months, they spent more money than they planned to earn.
The state's spending is much higher than the money coming in, creating a 'revenue deficit'.
This deficit is already bigger than what they expected for the entire year.
The state is now short on money, which means they might need to borrow from others or ask the central government for help to cover its expenses.
In the same period, the state also has a fiscal deficit, which measures how much the state is in debt.
Andhra Pradesh's revenue deficit exceeded 110% of the budget estimate in the first four months.
The revenue deficit reached Rs 36,741 crore, surpassing the yearly projection of Rs 33,186 crore.
The state may need to increase borrowing or seek central government aid.
The fiscal deficit for April-July was Rs 48,354.02 crore.
This accounts for approximately 61% of the projected Rs 79,926.90 crore for the fiscal year.
