Nagaland Christians Protest FCRA Changes, Compulsory Vande Mataram Singing

Christians in Nagaland held a peaceful protest.

They were worried about proposed changes to a law regulating foreign donations.

They also objected to making everyone sing Vande Mataram at official events.

Protest leaders said patriotism should not require people to give up their religious beliefs.

They said Christian faith and Naga identity can exist alongside love for India.

The group asked that people not be punished for choosing not to sing.

It also raised concerns about special laws and permits in the Northeast.

The forum gave its concerns to India’s president through Lok Bhavan.
