Dalit man loses eyesight in Ramlila accident, FIR filed
A man named Sunil Kumar was playing the role of Ravan in a Ramlila performance.
Another man, Naitik Pandey, who was playing Lord Ram, shot an arrow that hit Sunil in the eye.
Sunil lost his eyesight in that eye.
The family says Naitik did this on purpose and used bad words.
The police have filed a report, but no one has been arrested yet.
Sunil had to spend a lot of money on treatment and lost his job.
He and his family are now asking for help.
Sunil Kumar, a 35-year-old Dalit man, lost his eyesight after being struck by an arrow during a Ramlila performance in Sonbhadra, UP.
The arrow was allegedly fired by Naitik Pandey, a 22-year-old playing Lord Ram, who used a pointed, hardwood arrow instead of the provided one.
The incident occurred on November 13, 2023, but the FIR was filed on November 14, 2024, due to delays in medical treatment and police follow-up.
The victim's family alleges that the accused and the Ramlila organizer used casteist remarks and refused to bear medical expenses.
The case has been filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 125, 351, 352, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, but no arrests have been made yet.
