Modi Meets BJP Team Amid Vande Mataram Standoff

The meeting happened after the BJP passed a resolution about Vande Mataram.
The BJP says the song is an important symbol of India’s freedom struggle and national identity.
It wants the full six-stanza version to be protected and promoted.
The BJP also plans to teach young people about the song’s history.
Congress has reaffirmed an older decision to sing only the first two stanzas at its programmes.
Congress says it is following decisions made by important leaders in 1937.
The two parties disagree about how much of the song should be sung and how its legacy should be handled.
