Prashant Kishor Leads Bankipur Bypoll, Counting Ongoing
Prashant Kishor, a famous election strategist, is running for a seat in the Bihar state assembly for the first time.
He is doing this in a place that has always voted for the BJP, the party that used to hold the seat.
The vote count is still happening, and Kishor is ahead by a lot of votes.
People are watching because it shows how well his new party, Jan Suraaj, can do in elections.
Other elections are also happening in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, where the BJP and Congress are fighting closely.
The counting in Patna is very secure, with many police and drones watching.
The final results will be announced after all the votes are counted.
Prashant Kishor, Jan Suraaj Party founder, leads Bankipur by-election with a growing margin after multiple counting rounds.
The seat was vacated by BJP national president Nitin Nabin after his election to the Rajya Sabha, making the contest a key test for the new party.
Counting is ongoing across 31 rounds; Kishor’s lead has risen from 1,161 votes after round 2 to over 10,000 votes after round 17.
Parallel by-elections in Madhya Pradesh (Datia) and Gujarat (Manjalpur) are also underway, with close contests between BJP and Congress.
Security at the Patna counting centre includes 300 personnel, drone surveillance, and traffic diversions.
