Mayor alleges discrimination against Mohali housing societies

The mayor of Mohali, Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu, held a press conference to talk about what he believes is unfair treatment of some housing societies in the city.

He said that around 35 to 40 housing societies have not been getting the development work they need, even though there are rules that allow these works to be done.

The mayor mentioned that when the Congress party was in power, a lot of development projects were approved, but now that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is in charge, these projects are not being approved.

He gave examples of how one society linked to an AAP councillor got a lot of money for development, while another society linked to a Congress councillor did not even get a small amount approved.

The mayor said this is not fair and that all residents should get equal treatment.

After the press conference, the mayor and other councillors met with a government official to discuss the issue.

The official promised to look into the matter.

The mayor said he is not against any individual or political party, but he will not allow the housing societies in Mohali to be treated unfairly.
