Tata Electronics Partners with ROHM for Semiconductor Production
Tata Electronics, a company from India, has teamed up with a Japanese company called ROHM.
They will work together to make and test tiny computer parts called semiconductors, which are used in cars and other devices.
Tata is building two big factories in India, one for making these parts and another for testing them.
These factories will help make parts for cars, phones, and even things used in defence and space.
This is a big deal because it will help India make more of these important parts and sell them not just in India but all over the world.
The companies will also work together to create new business opportunities and market the products they make together.
Tata Electronics and Japan's ROHM Co have entered into a strategic partnership for semiconductor manufacturing in India for both Indian and global markets.
The partnership will focus on establishing a manufacturing framework for power semiconductors in India, combining ROHM’s device technologies with Tata Electronics’ semiconductor assembly and test capabilities.
Tata Electronics will assemble and test ROHM’s India-designed automotive-grade Nch 100V, 300A Si MOSFET in a TOLL package, targeting mass production shipments by next year.
The companies will explore co-development of high-value packaging technologies in the future and combine efforts to market the products manufactured through this collaboration.
Tata Electronics is building India’s first commercial Fab in Dholera, Gujarat, with a total investment of $11bn, and India’s first indigenous Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Jagiroad, Assam, with an investment of $3bn.
