India Launches One Health Mission
The Indian government has started a new mission called the One Health Mission.
This mission includes 16 different ministries and departments working together to get ready for pandemics and epidemics.
The mission is led by the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister’s Office.
It focuses on studying viruses, animals, birds, and how climate change affects diseases.
The mission will also set up new laboratories to help with research and quick action if there's an outbreak.
State governments are also involved to make sure any problems are reported and dealt with right away.
This mission was created because the COVID-19 pandemic showed that no country, including India, was fully prepared, which led to many deaths.
However, India was one of the first countries to develop a COVID-19 vaccine, which helped save many lives.
India has launched the One Health Mission involving 16 ministries and departments to improve pandemic and epidemic preparedness.
The mission is headed by the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister’s Office.
It focuses on studying viruses, animals, birds, and the impact of climate change on diseases.
New laboratories, including one central lab and state-level labs, will be established under the mission.
State governments are involved to ensure immediate reporting and action during outbreaks.
