Andheri, Goregaon Stations to Undergo SATIS Overhaul
Mumbai has two very busy train stations, Andheri and Goregaon, where cars, buses, and people all mix together.
This makes traffic slow and sometimes dangerous.
The government, the railway company, and the city are planning a big makeover called SATIS.
They will build special walkways, skywalks, and separate spots for buses and rickshaws.
They will also plan where cars can enter and exit, and make parking easier.
The goal is to make it safer and faster for everyone.
After these two stations, they might do the same for other busy places like Bandra East and Borivali.
Andheri and Goregaon stations will be upgraded under the SATIS scheme to reduce traffic congestion.
The overhaul includes pedestrian pathways, skywalks, dedicated bus and autorickshaw bays, and planned vehicle entry/exit points.
Improved parking facilities and better traffic management around the stations are also planned.
The project is a joint effort by Indian Railways, MMRDA, and the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, with a proposal already sent to senior authorities.
Similar SATIS projects are being considered for Bandra East and Borivali after completion at Andheri and Goregaon.
