MLA Starts Hunger Strike for Cantonment Merger
A local leader named Sriganesh Narayanan started a hunger strike in Hyderabad.
He wants the civilian areas of the cantonment to join the city's main government (GHMC) because he thinks the current system is unfair.
The current system has no elections and people are not getting basic services like water and good roads.
Many people, including other leaders and residents, support his protest.
They say the area has not developed much while the rest of the city has grown.
The protest will continue until their demand is met.
Secunderabad Cantonment Congress MLA Sriganesh Narayanan began a relay hunger strike demanding the merger of civilian areas of the cantonment with the GHMC.
The protest started at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue in Karkhana, with support from leaders, intellectuals, and residents.
Narayanan argues that the current nominated system lacks accountability and has led to a lack of development in the cantonment.
He claims the area has fallen behind in development compared to the rest of the city due to central control.
The protest will intensify if the demand is not met, with plans to take the struggle to Delhi if necessary.
