Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani Celebrates 107th Year With South Indian Theme
Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani is a famous public Ganesh festival in Mumbai.
It has been celebrated for 107 years.
The festival began this year with a special welcoming event called the Aagman Sohla.
Thousands of people came to see the Ganesh idol.
The idol is decorated to look like Lord Venkateshwara Balaji from Tirumala Tirupati.
The festival stage, called the pandal, looks like a grand South Indian temple.
It includes tall towers, lamp pillars and guardian sculptures.
Volunteers are preparing the venue before Ganeshotsav begins in about two weeks.
The festival group is also working with the Adani Group this year.
Mumbai’s Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani held its Aagman Sohla on Saturday ahead of Ganeshotsav.
The Chinchpokli Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal is celebrating its 107th year.
This year’s idol and pandal draw inspiration from Tirupati and South Indian temple architecture.
Thousands of devotees gathered in Mumbai’s Lalbaug-Parel-Girangaon belt amid dhol-tasha performances and chants.
The Mandal was founded in 1920 and has partnered with the Adani Group for this year’s celebrations.
