Chandigarh Ice Hockey Teams Win Historic Medals
The Chandigarh ice hockey teams did something amazing!
The men's team won a silver medal and the women's team won a bronze medal at the Khelo India Winter Games.
They had to practice on concrete and only got to skate on ice during special camps.
Even though they didn't grow up playing on ice like other teams, they worked really hard and did really well.
Their coach and players are happy and hope to get better with more practice on ice.
They even have a favorite hockey team, the Edmonton Oilers!
Chandigarh men's ice hockey team won silver, women's team won bronze at Khelo India Winter Games in Leh.
Teams trained on concrete and had limited ice time, competing in rented shoes just a year ago.
Men's team made a dramatic comeback from a 2-0 deficit in the final against the Indian Army.
Women's team secured bronze by beating Himachal Pradesh 4-3 in sudden death.
Teams and coaches emphasized the need for better infrastructure and more ice rinks in Chandigarh.
