Nepal Flood Bodies Overwhelm Morgues As Recoveries Continue

Severe floods in Nepal carried people and debris into rivers.

Some bodies were found more than 100 kilometres from where the floods began.

Local hospitals do not have enough room to store all the recovered bodies.

Officials are preparing a temporary facility in Bharatpur that could hold about 250 remains.

Bodies are being kept cool, and air conditioners and dry ice may help slow decomposition.

Families are traveling to places such as Chitwan and looking at photographs to find missing relatives.

Police are recording fingerprints, clothing, tattoos and other details, and may use DNA tests.

A second possible flood surge is making rescue and recovery work even more dangerous.
