Army Riders Traverse 2,400 km Ladakh Trail for Kargil Remembrance
A group of 20 Army riders are going on a long bike trip across the mountains of Ladakh.
They will travel 2,400 kilometers, visiting places where soldiers fought in the 1999 Kargil war.
The trip starts on August 3 and ends on August 14.
While riding, they will pick up soil from the battlefields.
Later, that soil will be used to grow trees at war memorials in Drass and New Delhi.
The riders will also pay respects to war widows and talk with former soldiers.
The whole event is to remember the brave soldiers and celebrate the Army’s 200th year.
It’s like a big thank‑you trip for the soldiers who fought in the war.
20 Army members set off on a 2,400‑km motorcycle trek across Ladakh’s Kargil battlefields.
The expedition, led by Maj Gen Arvind Yadav, commemorates Operation Vijay’s 27th anniversary and the artillery regiment’s bicentenary.
Riders will collect soil from battlefields to plant saplings at the Kargil War Memorial and the National War Memorial.
The 12‑day journey starts at Kargil War Memorial, passes Nubra, Shyok, and Chushul valleys, and ends in Leh on August 14.
