Maharashtra Hospitality Groups Demand FDA Due Process, Stop Name‑Shaming
Three big hotel groups in Maharashtra asked the state food safety agency to be fair.
They want the agency to give restaurants a chance to fix problems before cutting their licences.
They also say the agency should not show names or pictures of restaurants on TV or the internet until the legal process is finished.
The groups worry that early publicity can hurt a restaurant’s reputation and the people who work there.
The food safety agency is still checking many restaurants for safety rules.
Some courts have already helped restaurants that were wrongly shut down.
The groups want the agency to follow the law and be more careful with public announcements.
Three major hotel associations in Maharashtra called on FDA to follow due process before enforcement actions.
They urged the FDA to issue improvement notices under Section 32 of the Food Safety and Standards Act before suspending or terminating licences.
The associations opposed the practice of publicly naming, photographing, or video‑recording establishments before legal proceedings conclude.
They warned that premature publicity could damage reputations, livelihoods, and consumer confidence.
The FDA’s crackdown continues, with recent court cases involving Poornima Restaurant and Park Inn by Radisson.
