Coca-Cola Foundation Backs Godavari Initiative’s Next Water Stewardship Chapter
The Godavari Initiative is a group working to protect water in and around the Godavari River basin.
It says water problems should be solved across the whole basin, not only at individual factories or villages.
Companies, government departments, nonprofits and technical experts are working together through the initiative.
The initiative began with support from Diageo India.
Now, The Coca-Cola Foundation will help lead its next phase.
The work will expand from Maharashtra into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The partners plan to use research, nature-based solutions and shared investments to improve water resilience.
The initiative has also become an independent nonprofit so it can continue its work over the long term.

The initiative marked its second anniversary at the Water Stewardship Dialogue 2026 in Mumbai.
