Canada Raises Immigration Fees for Work Permits and Inadmissibility Applications
The Canadian government has raised fees for some immigration applications.
Starting December 1, 2025, fees for things like work permits and special permissions to enter Canada will cost more.
For example, the fee to get permission to return to Canada after being denied entry will go up by a few dollars.
The fee for a special work permit for young people from other countries will also increase.
If you already paid the old fee before December 1, 2025, and mailed your application, you might need to pay the extra amount online.
The government says they are doing this because more people want to immigrate to Canada, and they need to adjust the fees to keep up with the demand and the economy.
Effective December 1, 2025, Canada raises fees for inadmissibility-related applications and IEC work permits.
Authorisation to Return to Canada fee increases from $479.75 to $492.50.
Temporary resident permits fee increases from $239.75 to $246.25.
IEC work permit processing fee increases from $179.75 to $184.75 for the 2026 season.
Applicants who paid the old fees before December 1, 2025, and mailed their applications will need to pay the difference online.
