IDBI Bank Stake Sale Draws Staff Pushback, White Paper Sought

IDBI Bank may be partly sold to new investors, possibly including foreign investors.

The United Forum of IDBI Officers is asking Parliament to study the plan first.

It wants the Government to publish a White Paper explaining the bank’s history, finances and proposed valuation.

The Forum says public institutions helped the bank recover and return to profitability.

It also says the bank owns valuable assets built up over many years.

The Government has offered 60.72% of the bank’s shares for sale along with management control.

The Forum believes Parliament should decide whether selling control is in the public interest.

It wants the final transfer paused until that review is completed.
